Let’s talk about glasses baby!
Ha! This week’s blog has seen better days before coming to light!
Back in my high school days I was known as “Macho nne” or four eyed girl if you may. Haha, back then when it was the most high school thing to do, my eyes were in total anguish. I had to get glasses as diagnosed by an optometrist just months after joining school. So all through high school the glasses were part and parcel of my existence. I went to several high schools in case you are wondering, but that’s a story for another day. The reason I got them was my struggle with fluorescent light bulbs that are a common fixture in many Kenyan high school I presume and the fact that sitting behind in class made me strain so much to see what was happening in front.
Long story short, I couldn’t function without my glasses, both indoors and outdoors. I then updated to sunglasses and as you can tell by what you know about sunglasses, I felt as cool as can be.
Somehow along the way just after high school I lost my glasses on the road, no pun intended. How, I don’t know but it has been the most quizzical thing that boggles me to this day. Eventually the pain stopped and I liked the attention of being glasses free until last year when my eyes started aching again. I tried to medicate the pain with painkillers and sometimes sunglasses until it hit me again the reason was my reaction to light especially the artificial kind and confused sleep cycles.
So there you have it, I’m back to wearing glasses because my eyes get easily red from time to time and my only remedy is when I have the right amount of Zzzzs and stay in the natural light which is a hard thing when adulting. I’ll try and stay as fashionable with them but I won’t be the one you see wearing them 24/7, I don’t want to get too codependent on them. I’ve broken the cycle for years now, and I think I can mange.

It’s called the Hiding Place. I promise you gonna download one or two songs if not the entire album as I did!
